Krešimir Bulić, M.D., Ph.D.

He was born in Split in 1969, attended elementary school in Zagreb, and finished high school in Boston, USA. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Zagreb in 1993 among the top 5% of his class. After graduation, he did an internship at KBC  Zagreb and passed the board exam in 1994. From 1995 to 1998, he worked as an active officer in the Croatian Army. He specialized in general surgery at KBC Zagreb, and in 2003 he passed the specialist board exam, and in the same year he defended his master's degree at the Faculty of Medicine in Zagreb. He subspecialized in plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery at KBC Zagreb, and spent two years of subspecialization at the Queen Victoria Hospital in Great Britain. He passed the subspecialist board exam in 2008 and since then has been working at the Department of Plastic Surgery and Breast Surgery of KBC Zagreb, and also as an assistant at the Faculty of Medicine in Zagreb. In 2010, he defended his doctorate at the Faculty of Science and Mathematics in Zagreb, in 2015 he became an assistant professor, and in 2021 he became an associate professor at the Faculty of Medicine in Zagreb. In 2020, he acquired the title of scientific advisor.

During his professional career, he participated in the work of numerous domestic and international professional meetings as a lecturer and organizer, published over 60 professional and scientific papers that were cited over 500 times in the professional literature, participated in the implementation of several scientific projects, and mentored the creation of numerous graduate and doctoral theses. He received several awards for his work, among others the Charter of the Croatian Medical Association, the Award for Special Achievement in the Medical Profession and Science of the Faculty of Medicine, and the Award of the City of Zagreb, and he became known to the wider public as a member of the team that performed the first successful separation of conjoined twins in Croatia in 2019. He is a member of numerous professional societies and currently holds the position of vice-president of the Croatian Society for Plastic Aesthetic and Reconstruction Surgery.

Areas of special professional interest of prof. Bulić are hand surgery and congenital anomalies, oncological and reconstructive breast surgery and aesthetic surgery.
