Dr. Mehmood Butt is Head of the Cardiovascular department, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at King’s College Hospital Dubai, Professor of Cardiology at Gulf Medical University (UAE), and Clinical Professor of Preventive Cardiology at the University of South Wales (UK).

Dr. Mehmood Butt received his Post graduate training in Birmingham, South Wales, and Oxford, UK. He is a CCT-certified specialist from the General Medical Council in Cardiovascular Medicine and Interventional Cardiology. He carries nearly 25 years of experience in cardiac disease management whilst working at world-renowned hospitals such as John Radcliffe Hospital Oxford and University Hospital Wales, Cardiff. Whilst he has performed thousands of heart Procedures during his career, he has a special interest in treating patients with multiple blockages, severe calcification of coronary arteries, patients who declined Bypass surgery, and those looking for a stent as an option, or patients too sick for Cardiac Surgery.

Awards and Certifications

He is one of the leading UAE experts in the use of state-of-the-art techniques such as Coronary Shockwave Therapy and Orbital Atherectomy. He also has a keen interest in structural interventions such as TAVI/TAVR and PFO closure.

He is published widely in international scientific journals and is also a Professor of Cardiology at Gulf Medical University (UAE). In addition, he is a Clinical Professor of Preventive Cardiology at the University of South Wales (UK) where he tutors MSc courses to cardiology training doctors.
